Sharingan Guide

The normal eye for an Uchiha clan member resembles any normal human eye with iris, pupil and sclera.


The first of the Sharingan's powers is being able to see the flow of chakra. The Sharingan itself gives colour to chakra, allowing the wielder to differentiate them. They are also able to tell if a person is under a genjutsu because the person's chakra flow would be irregular. The clan members pupil will turn red and develop one of the wheel swirls.


The Sharingan's second-most prominent ability grants the user an incredible clarity of perception, allowing them to easily recognise genjutsu and different forms of chakra, though not to the same extent as the Byakugan. This also allows the user to pick up on subtle details, enabling them to read lip movements or mimic something like pencil movements. As the Sharingan evolves, gaining more tomoe seals, this ability extends to being able to track fast-moving objects before finally giving some amount of predictive capabilities to the user, allowing them to see the image of an attacker’s next move from the slightest muscle tension in their body and counterattack or dodge without any wasted movement. However, even though the user may be able to see an attack or know it is coming, their body may not always have time to react. The clan members pupil will turn red and develop two of the wheel swirls.

This Tomoe is activated with emotional stress, such as your parents dying before your eyes, or being in a serious near death situation.


The Sharingan's third and most well-known ability is that it grants the user the ability to memorize almost any technique that he or she witnesses, apart from other kekkei genkai techniques. The user can memorize ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu with near perfect accuracy, allowing the user to use the techniques as their own, or even modify them to create their own new techniques, much like Sasuke Uchiha's Lion Combo. In order to reproduce a copied technique, however, one must have the necessary skill or ability to perform them. A prime example is Rock Lee's brand of taijutsu. While Sasuke was able to copy some of Lee's moves, they put a much more significant strain on him since he hasn't trained nearly as much as Lee has. In addition to physical skill and kekkei genkai techniques, the Sharingan cannot reproduce techniques dependent on other factors, such as summons that the user has not signed a contract with.

This stage is activated when the user feels as if they have a lack of power, AND are sent into a death situation, another way to activate this stage is when the user lacks power and they are being protected by a rival or enemy, someone they basically despise.


The Mangekyō Sharingan has the ability to control the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, although Madara Uchiha and Tobi are the only ones to accomplish this milestone. It also grants them access to other powerful techniques. The Mangekyō Sharingan is distinguished from a normal Sharingan by its appearance, which changes the form of the tomoe seal. Unlike the Sharingan, the appearance of the Mangekyō Sharingan differs from user to user; for example, Itachi Uchiha and Kakashi Hatake's resembles a pinwheel, and Sasuke Uchiha's looks like three intersecting ellipses.

The Mangekyō Sharingan is acquired through the death of the person closest to the Sharingan user. To expedite this occurrence, Uchiha throughout history have killed the person closest to them in order to meet this criteria, though how Kakashi and Shisui gained their respective Mangekyō Sharingan has yet to be explained. To obtain the Mangekyō Sharingan, one must feel the emotion of losing a friend or family, as merely killing them or watching them die will not activate it. Over time the user of Mangekyō Sharingan will go blind. To represent this in the rp world please keep track of how many times you use it. After just 5 uses your character will have blurry vision, after 10 they will be almost blind, and at 12 completely blind and unable to see.

This stage is activated by watching a CLOSE AKA BEST friend die, watching family die, killing your family, or killing your best friend.

Over time, use of the Mangekyō Sharingan's techniques deteriorates the user's eyesight to the point of blindness. Only by taking and transplanting the eyes of another Uchiha clan member can the vision be restored, a process that results in the creation of an Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. The tighter the blood ties are between the "donor" and the receiver, the better it is for compatibility, siblings for example. The time from fusing the donor's Mangekyō with the receiver's Mangekyō to the point of full recovery is at least several days in the case of Sasuke. Not only does this process permanently restore one's eyesight, but it also gives the person even greater power. The Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan also changes form from the original, with what appears to be a fusion of the current owner's Mangekyō with the previous owner's.

This stage can only be activated by transplanting someone else's Mangekyou. Requires another person to give you their eyes or you must defeat someone else for their eyes.


Obtained near the end of his life, the Rinnegan granted Uchiha Madara powers close to those of the Rikudou Sennin. The path to the Rinnegan was apparently spelled out in the secret Uchiha Clan shrine below their compound, which revealed knowledge based upon the level of eyes the reader utilized, from Sharingan to Mangekyou Sharingan to finally Rinnegan. How an Uchiha obtains the Rinnegan is currently unknown.
