Marik, starting from the top has short green that is swept back on his head. His hair comes down over his forehead in a few strands, but nevertheless his forehead is fully view able. He has a round face, with a slightly large forehead. He has the face of a man who has gone through many difficulties in his life, but nevertheless, with the crude smile he wears on his face, he also has the look of a man who enjoys such suffering and only wants more. His menacing smile just the same brings fear to most people and is always seen when he is excited over a battle or is taking pleasure in killing someone. His thin eyes brows, straight nose and slim lips fit his face perfectly complimenting all his other features just the same. He has dark thin pupils with eyes one might consider 'uninviting', as one could see the strong killing intend that are in them from only a first glance, and so he is feared because of his intimidating appearance and glares. Although, his most distinctive feature is the slash that runs down over it which was attained from his past, and as a result he constantly keeps it close as a result of blindness. His ears fits the rest of his face just the same, and on his left ear he wears three identical gold earrings on his left ear.
Drawing down to his body, Marik has the appearance of a average sized muscular man. But, although he is average in body shape and his body doesn't very much look it, Marik has amazing strength and endurance that many have regarded as impossible even with him being a shinigami. His amazing strength comes from his incentive to never give up or 'die even if he is dead'. He stands at 5'10" comfortably, and weighs 145 ibs (without his zanpaktou in hand). He has well done abs having a perfect six abdomens for a man of his age, and if one was to see him with out clothing, they could see the mass amount of scars and wounds endured from battles he has had in his past. The most distinctive of these scars is the large slash that runs across his chest from his left shoulder to his right hip via the Gotei 13's Captain Commander.
Marik is usually seen wearing a long, open dark-green coat, closed on his waist by a red sash, in which his three swords (Shusui, Sandai Kitetsu and Wado Ichimonji) are tucked. Around his commendable muscular arms, he has a black bandanna tied around the left sleeve. Whenever serious in a battle, he removes his black bandanna from his arm and tied into around his head just a little over his eyes, given him a much more intimidating look than he already has. He has no shirt underneath his coat, and a green haramaki is visible under the coat. When not in his standard attire, he usually wears normal clothing which may include, t-shirts (preferably white) to simple long jeans with shoes.

"Your not worth my time; I'm going to sleep"
Starting from lazy, Marik is the definition of the word one might say. He is often seen sleeping through any or all events, caring little about what is/isn't happening around him, and as such is one of those persons who could careless whether or not a Friday falls on a Tuesday. He doesn't do much except sleep, and he is quite a remarkably sound sleeper as well. And if not sleeping one can find him training to the bone. Even though lazy and sluggish when not in-combat, Marik is not one to not accept physical labor. But for him to do such, it must provide some sort of training while doing it - that way it wouldn't be a 'complete waste of time'. His sleeping is a result of him constant, if not always being bored. The reason for such a unmatched streak of boredom is because of the fact that he could never find people at least worthwhile to fight. And so, he emits a strong aura of killing lust when met with a formidable opponent after being bored for too long.

"I'll never die... even when I'm dead"
Marik is strong willed almost like someone who refuses to die. Known for pulling of task that most would consider impossible for even the strongest of shinigamis, This attitude was also what earned him the name Death, as he refuses to die and never dies. Marik does things like a man who is immortal caring little for wounds or consequences of his actions. This trait is one of his most commendable, and many see a lot of interest in him because of it. His strong will attitude has deemed him a fool by many, but a god by many more because of it. Never backing down to any challenge no matter how bad odds may be stacked against him.

"My sword is growling; it craves blood!"
Marik is known for his ruthless the most over all his traits. Known for showing no sympathy or remorse in battle, Marik is a ruthless killer which many view him as heartless because of such. His ruthlessness is viewed by many as almost sadistic. Primarily because of the fact that he always takes pleasure killing others noticeable by the large grin he wears on his face whenever carving up someone, even going to such extend as to sometime taste the blood of his victims.
Yet gentle? Although usually cold, timid, frightening/intimidating and ruthless, Marik has a soft side to him. This soft side is not shown to those who he sees as deserving of death, and he only shows this side to those who are kind and gentle to him or others. His kindness is often taking advantage of by others who don't appear as they seem, but nevertheless when such a case happens he sees it as simply... fun. Taking said fun as a challenge of his strength and as a game, he takes his life as much of a joke, almost like if his life is a game to him.

"Without my pride... my honor, I might as well be dead"
Pride, Honor. These two words hold many meaning to Marik. A man of his word, and a man of dignity. Marik is willing to die to the hands of someone if they were to make a bet and he couldn't live up to it. He is not someone to back stab someone or not live up to his word.
His show of pride and honor is further shown by the fact that he refuses to attack someone from behind even if it was his only chance - simply because of the fact that he sees it as a honorable attack, cheap and the worst form of trickery.
Excluding Marik's above traits, Marik is generally a usually calm and carefree person. Not actually killing people for no reason, Marik is kind and gentle in many ways. He is someone that many people easily get interested in easily. Whether it be male or female, he is often the center of attention because of his carefree attitude, which many deem him as 'cool' because of it. Taking his life as almost like something not existent, Marik even when in the most intimidating or worst of situations, is always making a joke out of it or making a game out of it to test his strength.
He is willing to do things that most would hesitate to do willing to cut of a arm or a leg without a moments thought if a situation calls for it. Taking this all into consideration he has earned a name perfect for a many of his kind. He doesn't enjoy taking the easy way out of things as he is always looking for a challenge in life that way he wouldn't be bored. His carefree attitude is almost like a man just waiting to be killed, his strong will is like someone who has stared death in the eyes too many times to count, his ruthless almost like the actual grim reaper itself and his prideful nature that makes it seem like he believes little in what exist.
Likes:
- Drinking: Marik s known for being a heavy alcohol drinker capable of drinking down glasses, or even barrel loads of alcohol without showing a single sight of intoxication. He is known to have never gotten drunk, even after drinking down more than a trunk load of alcohol.
Dislikes:
- Smoking: Although a strong drinker, Marik dislikes smoking very much. He has never tried it, but simply refers to it as "dumb". He even dislikes being around a smoker, often being those who are smoking around him to a pulp for doing it.
- Weak opponents: having a strong dislike for weak people, especially those who go around challenging others beating other weaklings then go boasting about it, Marik hates weak opponents. He can easily see a weak person from a first glance, and usually uses his sword, even if not needed, just for the fun of making them suffer for their boasting.
- Tricky/cunning persons: Marik has a disliking for persuasive and/or tricky persons. He mainly hates it among women as he sees such women as the low of the low and disgraceful. He doesn't kill a person showing these quantities immediately nevertheless. Often playing with them just the same and make them think they are getting their way, only to come back and kill them later when they think they have succeed with their incentive.
- Sexism: Marik's hatred for sexism is much like his hatred for tricky persons, and so he hates to see persuasive/flirtatious women as he sees it such women as those who have lowered their standards to that of which male and society has set for them.
