Clan History |
Pre-Great Cataclysm
Originating in the frozen forests and mountains that would in later years give birth to the Land of Snow, the Yuki clan were at first nomadic fishermen and herders. Over time a number of early followers of the Sage of Six Realms became part of this extended family, where they in turn passed on the teachers of that mythical figure to help their adopted people survive the harsh environment of their home. Eventual the combination of a harsh environment that weeded out the weak, a limited gene pool due to the isolation of their home range, and the constant conflict between the tribes and both the native predators (polar bears, orca, etc) and intruders lead to the clan developing the ability to merge both water and wind chakra to produce an icy chakra. Shortly after the bloodline stabilized the local climate became even harsher and to survive the clan separated into smaller groups who would eventual help found the Village Hidden in the Snow (Yukigakure no Sato). While initially influential the clans power and notoriety declined as their numbers did due to the increasing rarity of suitable marriage partners within the clan. Eventually their line and ice-manipulating abilities would die out sometime between the conflicts known as the Second and Third Shinobi Wars.
Another large group of members, composed mostly of fishermen and seafaring traders, settled among the islands that would become the Land of Water and become one of the early bloodline clans of the Village Hidden in the Mists. Unlike their cousins in Hidden Snow, the branch that settled in Hidden Mist thrived - not due to the more moderate climate but also due to establishing a stronger version the bloodline that could be passed on even if only one parent was of clan birth rather the original version that required both parents to possess the right genetics to pass the Hyouton abilities on to their children. This prosperity lasted until the start of the Bloodline Purges in Kirigakure under the Third and Fourth Mizukages, when the clan was broken with many killed and the rest scattered to the far corners of the Elemental Nations or gone into hiding. At the time the last recorded user of the bloodline was one Haku, the apprentice of Momichi Zabuza, who was believed to had died without issue. At the time it was believed that the bloodline had also died with him.
Post Cataclysm:
Following the massive upheaval caused by the explosion of the super-volcano that altered the balance of power centuries ago, little effort or time was spent on tracing genealogies as resources and efforts were focused first on survival then rebuilding. It is believed that at some time during the mass-migrations of people that occurred during those early years that some of the survivors unwittingly carried fragments of the gene for the dominate version of the hyouton bloodline from Kiri, while others carried the fully intact recessive version from Yuki. Over the course of time it is believed that some children were born to parents where one carried the dominate and the other the recessive trait. The key factor is that, according to current theory, that somehow the mutated dominate gene that had lost the important characteristics needed to pass on the actual hyouton ablities, was able to “copy” some of the missing parts from the recessive gene. As the processes continued with each successive generation where the recessive gene was transmitted along with the mutated version of the dominate form, a bit more of the original structure of the dominate gene was restored. Eventually the process was repeated that enough of the original dominate gene returned that the bloodline became active and for the first time since Haku, naturally born users of the hyouton techniques began to emerge.
Modern Day:
Unlike some clans who managed to remain intact and can trace their descent from specific members, the “new” Yuki clan has no single source of origin. While it is possible for wielders of the bloodline to appear in any land, the greatest number of reports of them occur in the areas that were once the Land of Snow/ Spring, the Land of Water, and the coastal regions closest to those areas. This is believed to be tied to those areas being the most areas where most of the survivors and their non-hyouton using children resided following the purges of Kiri and the collapse of the clan in Yuki.
Due to this lack of unification, and the fact that little record remains of the original clans techniques except stories and legends that faded into obscurity, most of the clan members have been forced to develop their own unique techniques. Many of these techniques are based on the stories regarding Yuki Haku who, as the last known of the “old” Hyouton users and best documented (due to his being associated with Uzumaki Naruto), is the only one whose techniques are described in useful detail. As such while those who face a member of the clan should be prepared for nearly anything that can be done with ice, it is likely that techniques reminiscent of those used by the apprentice of Momichi Zabuza will be part of a hyouton-users arsenal.

- Spoiler:
Name of Jutsu: Demonic Ice Crystal Mirrors
Rank: B
Users: Yuki Clan
Type of Jutsu:: Ninjutsu
Range:
Element Affinity: Ice
Training Link: -
Description: Using their kekkei genkai, Yuki members can create a dome of twenty-one mirrors made out of ice to trap an opponent. Twelve remain at ground level, eight are placed above the first twelve and angled toward the ground, and the final mirror is above the rest and facing the ground. They can then enter one of the mirrors and instantly transport to another mirror. While moving about he bombards the opponent with attacks at very high speeds, such that the rest of the world appear to be moving in slow motion compared to him. If the mirror the user is in is broken, they can leap out of one of the fragments and continue their attack or move to another mirror. The technique requires a large amount of chakra to maintain, so Their movement becomes progressively slower the longer they maintains the mirrors. Roughly a B ranked amount every two posts. Though they are made from ice, the mirrors are imbued with enough chakra to resist fire almost completely
Name of Jutsu: Ice Disk Technique
Rank: C
Users: Yuki Clan
Type of Jutsu:: Ninjutsu
Range:
Element Affinity: Ice
Training Link: -
Description: This jutsu turns the moisture particles in the air into an ice disk. They can be hurled with tremendous force at a target and are hard to dodge because of their transparency. They can also be strung together to spy on areas. They can also be used defensively, creating highly durable shields or disks to stand on to hover in the air.
Name of Jutsu: Ice Prison Technique
Rank: B
Users: Yuki Clan
Type of Jutsu:: Ninjutsu
Range:
Element Affinity: Ice
Training Link: -
Description: This technique requires the user to use either water from underground which they can bring up, ice underground which they can bring up, or water in the air in a highly saturated environment. If using water as a source it will cost an extra D rank amount of chakra due to having to freeze it first. The user can then trap their opponent within the ice by controlling its movements and completely surrounding them in the ice. This jutsu is strong enough to withstand basic fire jutsu, because the ice has already been infused with the user's chakra. This allows this jutsu to double as a defensive technique, by the user encasing themselves in the ice.
Name of Jutsu: Ice Release: One Horned White Whale
Rank: A
Users: Yuki Clan

Training Link: -
Description: This jutsu creates a cluster of ice needles in the shape of miniature swallows, which the user then throws at the opponent. These needles can change direction in midair and will maim the opponent with their sharp wings.
Name of Jutsu: Ice Release: Tearing Dragon Fierce Tiger
Rank: B
Users: Yuki Clan
Type of Jutsu:: Ninjutsu
Range:
Element Affinity: Ice
Training Link: -
Description: his jutsu allows the user to create a giant tiger made out of ice. The user needs a nearby source of ice or water in order to use this jutsu. When using water an extra C rank amount of chakra is needed to freeze it for the technique. This jutsu is cold enough to freeze any Water Release techniques it comes into contact with.
Name of Jutsu: Ice Release: Ice Spikes
Rank: C
Users: Yuki Clan
Type of Jutsu:: Ninjutsu
Range:
Element Affinity: Ice
Training Link: -
Description: This justu unleashes great spikes of ice that come out from the users body. They cannot be specifically controlled and are not for attack, strictly defense for a quick and uncontrolled technique. They do not bear any resistance to fire as some other Yuki Ice jutsu do. The Ice created from this can be further used for other Ice techniques as well. This defense is fairly weak and can be shattered with the simplest of techniques of almost any kind only being able to turn aside the most basic taijutsu (simple punches and kicks with no chakra added), and basic weaponary (simple nonenhanced metal or wooden weapons with no added chakra capabilities).
